A momentous time is upon us here at Defending Big D and SB Nation, as over the next month some major changes are forthcoming to the look and feel of our site and the entire network. SB Nation United — this is what the new venture is being called and it refers to how we want to better “unite” all of our blogs here at SB Nation, and the aesthetics and layouts of the sites are a big part of that.

SB Nation has been going strong for eight years now and has gone through several major changes during that time; each step has made significant progress in not only updating the sites but setting a technological benchmark for sports websites and blogging. That is what you can expect.

Part of that change is a significant alteration of Defending Big D’s logo and I have to say — I love the new look. I’ve seen what SB Nation is to become in the very near future and I am beyond excited about that as well. SB Nation was cutting edge four years ago but it’s time for an upgrade; that’s exactly what we are about to get.

After the jump, a message from the founder of our network on the coming changes.

It’s with great pleasure that I unveil the first step in the next evolution of Defending Big D and SB Nation. In the next month SB Nation will be undergoing a dramatic upgrade to our platform and our editorial process. There will be much more detail to come but for now, the new logo above is just a first taste of what is coming for DBD and SB Nation – soon to become SB Nation United.

This is a small, but important sample of what is coming when our network undergoes its most exciting and radical transformation in the eight-year history of the company. A new visual identity here, and across the network, is only one step we are taking to unite our network of sites.

United through individuality is the underlying theme of this project. You’ll notice that your team colors and the unique spirit of our individual community is maintained while making it clear to sports fans that each site is a part of the larger SB Nation network. We want everyone to know that they can find the same type of great writing, video and conversation that we offer here on all of our 300 plus sites. You can browse through all the new logos on a special page we put together at sbnation.com/united.

Our commitment to passionately provide top-notch coverage of the Dallas Stars and the NHL will never end. It’s what makes DBD and SB Nation a special place and that will only be enhanced by these new changes. We feel that the planned changes will serve to provide an even better platform for presenting our content to our readers.

Welcome to our future.
